DC Reid Poets’ Grant
$5000 Grant Opportunity for Canadian poets who earned less than $30000 last year. Application closes on August 28th, 2023.
Sponsored by renowned Canadian poet and author DC Reid, the DC Reid Poets' Grant program aims to support poets of modest means to help fund writing and continue their work.
About the Program
This DC Reid Poets' Grant program will support eight Canadian writers selected by a nationwide anonymous jury of three poets.
About the Sponsor
DC Reid is a Canadian writer who is the author of 16 books — including one novel, eight poetry collections, two literary nonfiction works, and five books about fly fishing. You can check out his latest book, A Man and His River: A 25-year Love Affair with a Wild Island Waterway, here.
$5000 each to eight Canadian writers
The eligibility criteria include
Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada.
Must be a professional writer with at least two published books of poetry.
Must have earned less than $30,000 from all income sources in the previous tax year.
Actively working on a literary project of poetry.
Literary excellence will be the primary criterion.
Consideration will be given to the applicant's financial record and publication track record.
Emerging Writers are lot eligible - Poets must have published two or more books of poetry with a traditional publishing house to be considered.
