Pibòn (Winter) Festival - Family Event (December 2nd and 3rd )
Madahoki Farm, home of seasonal Indigenous experiences and events, Indigenous Marketplace, Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival, a growing herd of endangered Ojibwe Spirit Horses, hosts their Pibòn (Winter) Festival and Family Event. Highlights from the festival will include
NEW Paint Night - creating a beautiful cardinal on wood on Saturday Dec. 2, at 5:30 pm by an Abenaki artist, Jessica Somers, will guide participants through this unique painting exercise. Not only will you create this beautiful piece (a perfect gift for yourself or a loved one). She will also share many traditional teachings about the cardinal's significance. $75 workshop with all supplies. $95 with a meal of bison stew and hot beverage.
Indigenous meals of comfort food with our talented Indigenous culinary team led by Chef Paul Owl. Warm up with Bison Stew, Corn Soup, Bannock, Hot Cedar teas, and Maple Hot Chocolate. You can also cook your bannock over the fire with Kokum Putty.
Live cultural performances of Pow Wow dance and Inuit Throat Singing on the Celebration Stage throughout the day.
Meeting the rare and endangered Ojibwe Spirit Horses and learning more about their story of survival and resilience with artwork by Spirit Horse advocate Rhonda Snow.
Shop the Indigenous Makers' market with the work of more than 60 Indigenous makers, with everything from fine arts and beading to traditional crafts and Indigenous food products. Find the perfect Christmas gifts while you support local Indigenous makers!
Create your own Dreamcatcher($20) workshop. Each interactive workshop will share the teachings behind this unique traditional craft.
Walking the Legacy Trail and gaining traditional knowledge about the seven grandfather teachings, the four leggings that call Mādahòkì Farm home, and the traditional plants and medicines found on the trail.
Meet our small animals on the farm and enjoy some farm play on the hay bales & teeter-totter.
Enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride through the farm on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
